1. Weak acidity and safety
Boric acid is a weak acid (pH ≈ 5.1) with mild acidity and low irritation, suitable for disinfection and cleaning of sensitive areas such as skin and mucous membranes. Its weak acidity also makes it the preferred reagent for neutralizing strong alkali splashes in the laboratory.
